We at MedFare, your healthcare facility printed items provider are so excited to announce the start of our monthly blog series, Get to Know the MedFare Team. We have asked our employees a series of questions and each month you will get to read the answers. Keep reading to get to know the first employee in our series, Jacob Freedman.
1. How did you get started in this industry? MedFare was started by my grandfather, Howard Schubert, in 1974 (45 years ago). I began working at MedFare as an Office Assistant during Summer and Winter breaks throughout my college years from 2002-2006. During that time and from 2006-2008, I learned the ropes of the business. I ran the company from 2008-2016, after which MedFare was bought out by Lake Printing and they were generous enough to keep me on as Vice President of Sales.
2. What is your position at MedFare? What are some of your key responsibilities? I am the Vice President of Sales for MedFare, LLC. Some of my key responsibilities are attending Trade Shows, prospecting, generating new business with individual healthcare facilities and distributors, as well as servicing current clients.
3. What brought you to the Lake of the Ozarks, MO or Boca Raton, FL, depending on which dept. you work in? I have lived in South Florida since I was six years old. I moved away to Denver, CO for college, but I decided I enjoyed the beach more than the mountains, so I moved back to Florida.
4. Where did you attend school? I have a BA in Interpersonal Communications with a minor in Business Administration from the University of Denver. I graduated in 2006.
5. What do you enjoy the most about your job? What I enjoy most about my job is the camaraderie in the Healthcare Food Service Industry between vendors, Food and Nutrition personnel, GPOs, and Food Management companies.
6. How do you enjoy spending your time when not at work? When I am not at work, I enjoy spending time with my wife, Kandice, and my young son, Calvin. I also enjoy reading comic books, watching movies, and playing video games.
7. When you were young, what did you want to be when you grew up? When I was in 3rd grade, I wanted to be a Marine Biologist.
8. What is your dream vacation destination? Why? My dream vacation destination is any all-inclusive resort on the beach. What can I say, I enjoy relaxing.
9. What is something few people know about you? I am a huge comic book nerd and have an enormous collection of comic books, action figures, and statues that I am very proud of.
10. If you won the lottery, what would you do? If I won the lottery, I would open up a boutique comic book shop.
